The Image widget offers space for a single large image that takes up the width of content on the page. Showcase a high-quality and compelling image to support the content above and/or below it. Make sure the image is large enough.

Adding or Selecting an Image

  1. Click the “Add Media” button.Add media button

The News Feed widget is populated from content stored in the universities hub (hub.umd.edu), which is managed by the Office of Strategic Communications (OSC). Visually, the News Feed widget uses a modified version of the Card Group widget to display content with 3 cards.

Create space between distinct sections on a single page with the Divider Widget.

The People widget is manually populated from pages created with the UMD Terp Person layout made available in the Templates (the UMD Terp Person layout provides space to share or promote important information for individuals in your organization).

Views are an advanced feature of Drupal sites. The View widget provides the option to add one of these views to a page. Sites using the UMD Terp Templates come pre-configured with a view for displaying a feed of UMD Terp Articles. This feed can be displayed with or without filters to show local, blog, or news type content.

The Events Feed widget is populated from calendar events posted to the campus calendar, which is managed by the Office of Strategic Communications (OSC). Visually, the Events Feed widget uses a modified version of the Card Group widget to display events with 3, 6, or 9 cards at a time.

The video section supports videos published to youtube. Videos take up the full width of the page’s container. Video widgets require the embed link of the youtube or vimeo video to work.

Slideshows display a series of large images, one at a time. Each image takes up the full width of the page’s container. Slideshows are ideal for sharing multiple images within one area of a page where appropriate (ie: images from an event).

Carousels display a series of smaller images, 3 at a time. Clicking on each image opens up a larger version. While they do not support the same text options as slideshows (for accessibility), carousels do take up less space on a page for larger images and collections.

Card groups help break up related content into manageable chunks for easier understanding, or as a teaser for longer articles/pages. The News Feed and Events Feed widgets discussed later in these guidelines use a slightly modified version of this Cards Group widget for styling.
