Text-based Content

Home Template Guidelines Widgets Text-based Content

Text

Text widgets are the most fundamental part of the UMD Terp templates, and can be found in a number of the other widgets listed below. The UMD Terp Person, UMD Terp Article, UMD Terp Event, and UMD Terp Basic Page layouts include this section by default as a “bio” or “body” text area at the top of the layout.

Text - 2 Columns and 3 Columns

Displays formatted text in a 2 or 3 column layout. There are separate widgets for 2 or 3 column layouts. These two widgets offer the same formatting options as the standard text widget, but allow content editors to layout a page with multiple columns. On mobile, these columns will stack one above the other.

Accordion

Accordion widgets provide the ability to share a large amount of content in a more digestible way. Frequently Asked Questions areas are an ideal use case for an Accordion widget.

Tabs

To show a limited amount of related information that is best seen side-by-side, e.g. related content for students, parents and alumni.

Blockquote

The Blockquotes section is meant for featuring quotes, comments, or messages from experts and other persons of note. A brief quote can provide visual interest and offset larger text blocks.

Stat Group

Show 1-3 numbers with descriptive text underneath, centered on the page. Small images or icons are optional. Highlight compelling statistics or other number-based facts. The term “stat” is short for “statistic”.

Table

Tables are similar to spreadsheets; Use tables for data only. Tables aren’t meant to make page layouts, use other widgets to layout content, such as: text, 2 or 3 columns, Image with Text, or even tabs and accordion widgets.
